Atlantic Indoor Championships Recap

While university athletes were in action at the USports Championships in Windsor on Saturday, the Atlantic Championships took place in Moncton. It is with heavy hearts that Athletics New Brunswick announce the passing of a longtime member and former President. Dennis Furlong passed away at the age of 72. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Dennis was a longtime member of the association and a dedicated volunteer. The Dalhousie resident was a competitive masters athlete and served as President of Athletics New Brunswick from 2004 to 2007. NB athletes shine at USport Championships

The USports Track & Field Championships took place this past weekend in Windsor, Ontario. New Brunswick athletes once again showed their strengths and finished with 2 provincial records and 4 medals. - Andrew LeBlanc of Fredericton, competing for University of Guelph, won bronze in the men's 1000m with a time of 2:28.66, and placed 5th in the 600m with a time of 1:20.06. The return of the Maritime Masters Cup

Athletics New Brunswick is pleased to announce the come back of the Maritime Masters Cup.  This provincial competition will take place as part of the Atlantic Championships, both indoors and outdoors, with the winning province gaining bragging rights in this friendly rivalry.  Each province will be scored using the top-10 performances from each province’s team of master athletes, with a minimum of 3 from either gender, scored using WMA age-graded scoring.  The team w... >> more

Lalonde Competing at IAAF World Indoor Championships

Geneviève Lalonde, of Moncton, will be representing Canada at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham ENG, March 1-4.  She is one of only 15 athletes selected by Athletics Canada to attend this exciting competition.  Gen also has the honour of being the first Canadian team member to see action in the meet as she will be running the 3000m event on the first day of the Championships.  Athlete of the Month

Athlete of the Month (February 2018): Laura Dickinson. Laura was a member of the Canadian Junior national team who competed at the Pan American Junior Cross Country Championships in El Salvador. Laura was not just a member of the team, she actually finished 2nd overall in the 6km race with a time of 20:54. Silver medallist Laura Dickinson was also a major contributing force behind the Canadian Junior women's Gold medal winning team.
