Nov 26 2007 - 7th Annual Gagetown Invitational Each

7th Annual Gagetown Invitational

Each year the Gagetown Invitational provides a last chance for age-group athletes to establish new provincial indoor records before they age-up in January.  This year the 13 to 15 year old boys produced a bounty of new records.

Tommy McGinn set the Bantam boys' 60m record with his run of 8.18 seconds;
Eric Rioux set the Midget boys' 60m record with a run of 7.48 seconds;
Adam Gaudes set the Midget boys' 200m record at 24.62 seconds and the Midget boys' 400m record at 54.56s;
Alex Stuart lowered his own Midget boys' 60m hurdle record from 9.90s to 9.68s;
and Mike Jacobs marked his returned to the track  by setting the Midget boys' 1500m record at 4:14.38.

A few of the day's many highlights included:  Sarah MacPherson shadowing Paul Thibodeau through 14 laps of the 3000m only to out-kick Paul in the last lap. Sarah's time of 10:09.51 is a good indication that her preparations for next week's Canadian Cross Country Championships have gone well. Father and son competitors, Bill and Nick MacMackin,  duelled through 6.5 laps of the 1500m with Nick blasting away to a lead of almost 10 seconds in the last lap.

178 athletes from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island competed at this year's meet. Complete results for the meet are available here.
