“We are very pleased to once again have such a wide range of hometowns as well as event areas represented in our high performance teams,” said ANB Director of High Performance Steve LeBlanc.  He added, “We have an increased depth across many of the event areas, and many new faces that promise continued growth in the years to come.  Again, our clubs and coaches are to be commended for providing such a great environment for our sport to develop and grow to the highest levels.”

ANB Technical Director Gabriel LeBlanc noted the presence of several outstanding Paralympic athletes on the high performance teams.  “In particular, our throwers have really upped their game, both para and able-bodied,” he noted.  “Christel Robichaud and Caleb Jones have lead the way, but many others such as Jennifer Bell, Elizabeth MacDonald, Naomie Maltais, and Liam Turgeon have all pushed the level of throwing in New Brunswick to new heights,” added LeBlanc.  “And speaking of heights, our high jumpers have also pushed the limits. And then there are the combined event athletes!  So much great momentum in our sport right now.”

Sep 12 2014 - Dick Hartnett named to the Canadian Forces Sports Hall of Fame

Athletics New Brunswick would like to congratulate one of it’s long time coaches, Capt. Richard (Dick) Hartnett, for being named to the Canadian Forces Sports Hall of Fame as an athlete and a Builder. Hartnett has made significant contributions to the world of Canadian running. With his infectious love for the sport and drive to support the athletic community, he has excelled as an athlete, event organizer, and especially as a coach.

Among of his numerous achievements, he was the driving force behind pairing the National Running Championships with Ottawa Race Weekend, and more recently laid the groundwork for the Canada Army Run, one of Canada’s largest races. Harnett has also been team New Brunswick's Head Coach at the Canada Games and the Legion National Youth Championships.
