Jul 31 2005 - Over 200 athletes from Newfoundland, Pri Over 200 athletes from Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick competed at this weekend's Atlantic Outdoor Championships. Of the 151 personal or seasonal bests achieved were three NB Provincial records. On day 1, Barry Britt set a new midget 1500m record with a time of 4:10.15 and Mike Jacobs improved his own bantam 1500m record by nearly 20 seconds to 4:31.73. On day 2, Mike Jacobs lowered his own bantam 800m record to 2:10.97. Full results for the meet are available here. lowered the bantam men's 800m record. The new time of 2:13.50 betters
his previous time by almost 2 seconds. In the juvenile women's 400m
hurdle event, Jessica Belliveau
lowered the 20 year old record of Joyce McCormack to 65.40 seconds and
the juvenile men's 2000m Steeplechase record established last year by
Keith Murdock was lowered by Reid van Drecht to 6:44.57. Complete results for the meet are available here. Jul 12 2005 - Nine athletes from the Atlantic province Nine athletes from the Atlantic provinces have been chosen to represent Region 6 at the North America Hershey Finals. Congratulations to Emily Arsenault of Moncton, NB who will compete in the girls 11-12 100m event; Dustin Chambers of Falmouth, NS who will compete in the boys 11-12 800m event; Stephanie Elms of Oromocto, NB who will compete in the girls 9-10 400m event; Nicole Forest of Shediac, NB who will compete in the girls 13-14 100m event; Kaylea Germain of Fredericton, NB who will compete in the girls 13-14 1600m event; Morgan Hawkes of Fredericton, NB who will compete in the gilrs 11-12 800m event; Mike Jacobs of Fredericton, NB who will compete in the boys 13-14 800m event; Nick MacMackin of Saint John, NB who will compete in the Boys 9-10 400m event and Regan Wynn of Dartmouth, NS who will compete in the girls 9-10 100m event. Jul 12 2005 - Seven athletes represented New Brunswick Seven athletes represented New Brunswick and achieved good results at last weekend's Canadian Junior Nationals. Qualifying for the Pan Am Junior National Team were Kelsey Daley who finished 2nd in the women's 1500m and Mike LeBlanc who finished 3rd in the men's 100m event. Making the finals in each of their events were: Elizabeth MacDonald who finished 5th in the Discus and 6th in the Hammer Throw; Allyson Howatt finishing 7th in the womens 100m and 12th in the womens 200m; Justin Vautour with an 8th place finish in the Javelin and Jordan Nason who finished 11th in the same event. Also competing was Brian Lewis who finished 24th in the very competitve mens 1500m event. Full results for the Junior Nationals are here.
