Canadian Junior Championships
A total of 6 athletes from New Brunswick competed at the 2008 Canadian Junior Track & Field Championships in Abbotsford, BC.
Geneviève Lalonde (ASE/SEA) from Moncton finished 5th in the women’s 1500m in 4:26.96 a New Brunswick Juvenile & Junior outdoor record.
Hampton's own Barry Britt (SJTC) finished 6th in the men's 5000m with a seasonal best time (15:18.93.)
Sarah Macpherson (Fast track) was 7th in the 3000m with a new personal best time of 10:06.20.
Jocelyn Lockhart (ASE/SEA) was 15th in the 1500m with a new personal best time 4:46.49. Jocelyn also competed in the 800m where she finished 20th (2:17.05).
Adam Gaudes (Fast track) ran the 200m & 400m where he finished 31st and 21st.
Marc Maillet (Club Élite) was 21st in the men's High jump.

An IMPORTANT REMINDER to all athletes: The legion rally will be held Sunday, July 20th in Oromocto. This is an annual event that allows you to meet your teammates as well as the staff. The rally begins at 10am and concludes at 3pm. Please meet at the Hazen Centre in Oromocto, located directly behind the mall, down by the river. Your parents are asked to be there for the first hour. This allows everyone to become aware of the rules and expectations for the trip. You will need to bring your registration fee as well. ($200.00)
You are also strongly encouraged to attend Atlantics!!!

16 Young Athletes from NB Qualify for North American Hershey Final!
Congratulations to the sixteen young athletes from New Brunswick who qualified for the North American Hershey Final in Hershey, Pennsylvania from July 31- August 3. This year we are extremely excited to be sending 4 relay teams to the games! The following are the names of the athletes who qualified and their events:

Two 2-lap records this weekend and old javelin record smashed
On Friday night at the Aileen Maegher Track Classic in Halifax Geneviève Lalonde extended her suite of middle distance records to include the Juvenile Women's 800m NB Outdoor record. Geneviève's time of 2:12.07 dipped under the previous record of 2:12.70 held by Nadine Frost.
Nick MacMackin aged-up to run in the competitive Midget 800m race at the NB Outdoor Championship and lowered his own provincial bantam 800m record from 2:10.63 to 2:09.77. In the Juvenile boys Javelin Throw, Caleb Jones smashed the old record set by Andrew Blair in 2004 with a huge throw of 61.81m beating the old record by over 4 metres.

Centre for Athletics - Atlantic website now online
The new website for the Centre for Athletics - Atlantic is now online and operational. Steve Leblanc, the director for the Centre for Athletics - Atlantic, says they don't have 100% of the content on the site yet but it is functional and more is being added daily. The address for the new site is http://www.atlanticathletics.ca. There will also be a French version of the site coming to http://www.athletismeatlantique.ca.

NB Results from National Championships
Jocelyn Ruest had the highest placing amongst the NB competitors, finishing 6th in the Men's 20k Walk with a time of 1:46:07, at this year's Canadian Track and Field Championships. Allyson Howatt finished 9th overall with her time of 24.48 seconds to win the 'B' final of the Women's 200m event. Allyson also ran a 12.17 second 100m in the preliminary round but failed to advance. Michael Leblanc finished 10th overall running 10.54 seconds in the semi-final round of the Men's 100m event after winning his preliminary heat in 10.60 seconds. Pierre Landry jumped 6.78m in the Men's Long Jump; Sara Miller jumped 5.02m in her Long Jump and 10.72m in the Triple Jump; and Kelsey Daley placed 17th overall in the Women's 1500m event with a time of 4:41.19.

The results of the 2008 Atlantic Hershey Final from Lr. Sackville have been posted. The qualifiers for the North American Hershey Final to be held in Hershey, Pennsylvania from July 31 until August 3 will be announced on or after Sunday July 13th. There are meets in our region being held this Friday and Saturday to determine the qualifiers.

NB Athletes at Canadian Track and Field Championships
Seven NB athletes will be competing at the Canadian Track and Field Championships this week in Windsor, Ontario. Competing in the sprints are Allyson Howatt (100m, 200m), Micheal LeBlanc (100m) and Brad Robinson (100m, 200m); Sara Miller (LJ, TJ) and Pierre Landry (LJ, TJ) will compete in the horizontal jumps; Kelsey Daley makes her return to national championships in the 1500m; and Jocelyn Ruest will strut his stuff in the 20k Walk.
