122 days till the Games !!

The NB Athletics Canada Games staff is happy to welcome Stephany Reid & Jason Agnew to join them for CSG09. Stephany now hails from Dieppe and has had a great track career that included three Canada Games medals & has been a coach with ASEA for the last three years. She was an NB Legion coach in Sherbrooke last summer. Jason, who is from Moncton,  brings to the staff his experience with Special Olympics.

The complete staff is now:

Peter Stuart - Riverview – Head Coach; high jump, multi, middle distance
Yvan Pelletier - Fredericton – Men’s sprints & relays
Gabe LeBlanc – Moncton – Woman’s sprints & wheelchair events
Stephany Reid – Dieppe – Woman’s relays, jumps

Rebecca Lagace – Saint John – throws

Jennifer Butler – Bathurst – Apprentice coach  - middle distance

 To all Potential Summer Games Participants----Selection Criteria reminder

All athletes interested in trying out for the Athletics New Brunswick Provincial team to represent out province in the 2009 Jeux Canada Games to be held in Charlottetown PEI August  this year  are asked to carefully study the selection criteria posted on the web page at http://www.anb.ca/content/anb/programs/csg/2009/Selection%20Criteria.pdf to ensure they meet the deadlines for registration  to be part of the team.


Apr 21 2009 - Invitation to all 55+ yrs old athletes a

Invitation to all 55+ yrs old athletes and older--- NB Games

The City of Miramichi are hosting the New Brunswick 55+Games on June 24th to 26th and would like to encourage our "older" athletes to participate in these championships.

Age groups are  as follows for both men and women,---55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, 80+ and 85+.
The  track events are the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 3000m.
The field events are Long Jump, Triple Jump, Javelin, Discus, and  Shot.

If you are interested in competing in this great event, (The track and field events will be held on Thursday
June 25th) you are asked to call Suzanne Watters or Edna Trevors at 506-623-2300.


Apr 9 2009 - Junior Development Coordinator hired

Junior Development Coordinator hired by Athletics New Brunswick.

Harold Nicholson, the President of Athletics N.B. is pleased to announce that Gabriel LeBlanc has joined the staff of Athletics New Brunswick in the Junior Development Coordinator’s role. Initially this is a two year contract in a joint venture between the Provincial Government, Athletics Canada and Athletics New Brunswick with the main aim at the promotion and development of the Run Jump and Throw program throughout the province and schools leading to the 2010 World IAAF Junior Track and Field Championships in Moncton.

Apr 6 2009 - New Record for Gaudes at the Atlantic In

New Record for Gaudes at the Atlantic Indoor Championships

Congratulations go out to Adam Gaudes who broke his own 400m indoor Juvenile Record on Saturday at Camp Gagetown by 4 one hundredths of a second finishing in a time of 51.57 seconds. Considering that the track in Gagetown is a flat 200m track and the one in Boston where he originally set his previous record is a banked track, it  certainly bodes well for Adam in the upcoming outdoor session.
Over 130 athletes took part in the event with many personal bests  being set. New Brunswick indoor records  were challenged, but not broken in a number of events including the Midget boys 400m, the Juvenile Boys 60m Hurdles and the Juvenile Girls shot put.

Athletes invited to discover the sport of wheelchair racing

Dieppe– An initiation wheelchair racing clinic will be held at the Anna-Malenfant track in Dieppe on Sunday May 10th .

Interested people do not need racing experience to attend the clinic. The objective is to identify potential athletes who are interested in track and field. This is a unique opportunity to get involved in the hottest sport on three wheels and participants will learn about chair setup, racing techniques and training methods.

Athletes from all four Atlantic Provinces are invited to take part in the clinic. Racing chairs will be available for the activity to be held from Noon to 4 pm at the  Anna-Malenfant track .
