Sep 30 2016 - Canada Games 2017: 300 Days To Go!
Building off of this date and the amazing competitive results that were achieved in 2016 Athletics New Brunswick, the 2017 coaching staff, and the entire Canada Games program are excited to announce its second 2017 Identification List. This list is comprised of 83 athletes from across the New Brunswick that have shown the potential to represent New Brunswick at the games through their performances during the 2016 outdoor season. http://www.anb.ca/Programs/canada-summer-games.php “I couldn’t be more excited about where we are at in terms of Canada Games outlook. We have less than a year until the games and presently we have two athletes with A+ standards (top 3), twelve with A standards (top 8), and nineteen with B standards (top 12). This is great momentum for our province as a whole and shows that New Brunswick athletics is continuing to impress,” said head coach Jason Reindl. “The entire CSG staff is excited with the depth and quality of this identification list but we know that no one has a position on the team until trials (June 23-25, 2017). Our message to those who find themselves on the list and those that do not is the same. Keep on training hard. Keep on setting goals and working towards them. Keep on striving for excellence. If you can do those things you will stand a great chance of being successful and achieving your Team NB CSG goals in 2017,” added Reindl. Any athletes or coaches who require assistance in developing their plans towards the CSG trials and the games or just have questions are encouraged to contact Head Coach Jason Reindl – jasonreindl@me.com - (506) 343-2149. Please note that inclusion on the list has absolutely no bearing on final team selection in 2017. Athletes who have been named have no greater likelihood of being selected for the games team nor have those not been included having any additional requirements. All items dealing with the selection criteria can be found in the following selection criteria document located on the ANB website that were approved by the ANB board on June 24th, 2015. http://www.anb.ca/documents/uploads/2017%20CG%20Selection%20Version%203%20- %20EN.pdf (English) http://www.anb.ca/documents/uploads/2017%20CG%20Selection%20Version%203%20- %20FR.pdf (French) Sep 29 2016 - NBIAA Regionals Set For This Weekend

“The performance standards we have set for these teams are based on the ability to achieve national and international success, so the fact that we have this many athletes performing at this level is outstanding,” said Steve LeBlanc, ANB’s Director of High Performance. “The pathway we have identified is one that progresses the athlete from provincial and regional success all the way to national teams and international success,” he added. “And based on what I am seeing from this group of athletes, we are performing at a very high level now and for years to come.”
The Technical Director of ANB, Gabriel LeBlanc, also added his congratulations to the athletes. “Our new program is built around two important principles that we believe are crucial to our success as an organization – providing athletes with opportunities to train and compete, and giving them the resources to continue to develop and succeed. Our athletes have shown what they are capable of, and we hope the ADSP will help them continue to develop and succeed. It is fair to say that 2016 was a banner year for ANB, capped off by having two of our own represent Canada on the biggest stage in Rio. And we hope to see more of the same in Tokyo 2020.”
The ADSP represents a $20,000 commitment from ANB towards its athletes. Along with ADSP clothing, athletes will receive access to various training and competition opportunities organized by ANB. Those in the Elite and High Performance teams will also receive significant direct financial support.
The ADSP Elite team is made up of 5 athletes: Grace Annear (Hampton), Laura Dickinson (Miramichi), Shayne Dobson (Campbellton), Geneviève Lalonde (Moncton), and Sarah MacPherson (Fredericton). These athletes will each receive $3000 in direct funding support from ANB.
The ADSP High Performance team is made up of 9 athletes: Jack Berkshire (Fredericton), Barry Britt (Hampton), Brady Graves (Saint John), Victoria LeBlanc (Saint John), Nick MacMackin (Quispamsis), Sarah Myatt (Fredericton), Véronique Omalosanga (Moncton), Christel Robichaud (Moncton), and Samantha Taylor (Canterbury). These athletes will each receive $300 in direct funding support from ANB.
There are 46 athletes named to the ADSP Performance team and 28 named to the ADSP Development team. The complete list of athletes, along with more information on the ADSP can be found on the ANB website in the Programs section at: http://www.anb.ca/Programs/adsp.php Sep 24 2016 - 34th Annual UdeM XC Classic - Dal and STFX claim team titles; Myatt and MacIntosh top NB runners

On Saturday September 24th the UdeM campus will be transformed into a race course for some of New Brunswick’s premier cross-country athletes, racing in categories from under 5, to the exciting fi nale. Registration is $5 per participant and can be done on site prior to the first race which starts at 9:00am. The first race will be the under 5 category and the race s will progress through the age groups after that. This race serves as a major fundraiser for the UdeM cross-country program. This is the event where many of New Brunswick's top athletes got started, including Olympians Joel Bourgeois and Genvieve Lalond. This event is a wonderful opportunity for youth to give cross-country a try, and experience what it is like to compete in the sport.
As previously mentioned the day will be capped off by the second Atlantic University Sport race of the season. Athetes from Université de Moncton, University of New Brunswick, Dalhousie University, Acadia University, Saint Mary’s University, St Francis Xavier University, St. Thomas University, and University of Prince Edward Island are expected to compete.
In the women’s race you will see a strong field as three of the top four finishers at last year’s AUS conference championship are expected to compete, including the defending Conference champion Colleen Wilson. After strong performances at the Acadia race last weekend UdeM should be coming into their hometown meet with confidence and excitement, while a young UNB team coming off a strong season opening performance in Bangor should be another exciting team to watch.
On the men’s side a strong performance should be expected from defending conference champions StFX. Jérémie Pellerin of UdeM and Joshua Shanks of UNB are strong New Brunswickers to watch in this race, with the UdeM and UNB men’s sides expected to perform well, coming off similar previous successes as their schools’ women’s teams.
The excitement all gets started at 9:00am on Saturday with the under 5 race, and we hope to see everyone there to watch this exciting event involving many of New Brunswick’s future cross-country and track and field stars. Sep 22 2016 - Congratulations Coach Jennifer Butler!

Brady Graves- “I would never be where I am at today training with the Guelph Gryphons if it wasn’t for all the encouragement and support I get from coaches. The coaching staff’s that I have worked with have been phenomenal and I could not have asked for a better group of coaches throughout my running years in high school to be with.”
Jennifer Bell- “A great coach inspires. It is through them that athletes continue to grow not only in sport but in life. To my coaches, thank you for all of your inspiration.”
Lisa Richard- “Dear coaches, I couldn’t thank them enough for their hard work, patience, and the passion they have for the sport. They push us to our absolute limits even when we don’t know if we’ll be able to walk the next day or even finish the workout. Sometimes wondering whether you’re going to have a heart attack or when you feel like your head is about to explode at any moment. they are always on our side telling us it is almost over. Not to forget that in the meantime your legs are cramping up and as you finish you realize they have already brought the garbage can over and are waiting for you with some juice. But in the end it’s all worth it. We go to competitions always bringing our “A” game and ready to rock. Some of them have become my family and my best friends. I know I can always count on them for anything. I feel like I can tell them anything. They will always listen and give their own advice. They are my motivator and they always go above and beyond to make sure we are at our best. I love them dearly and I couldn’t imagine my life without them.”
Braden Harrison- "Throughout my life I've played a variety of sports under numerous different coaches, and I can proudly say none have been as influential or caring as my current track and field coaches. Their boundless effort, dedication and genuine interest in my development has helped fuel my love for the sport and has been instrumental in my progression as an athlete."
