19 Apr 2018 - Maritime Track League is Back

(Traduction a venir)

Athletics NB, in conjunction with Athletics NS and Athletics PEI, are thrilled to announce the return of the Maritime Track League for the 2018 outdoor season!

The Maritime Track League (MTL) is a series of events that offer high performance track and field competition opportunities to athletes from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island! Athletics NB, Athletics NS, and Athletics PEI have collaborated on this project for four consecutive outdoor seasons. Since the inaugural MTL in 2015, over $9,000 has been awarded to top preforming Maritime athletes.

The MTL will once again offer awards to the top male, female, and para athletes who take part in the series. Prizes will be awarded to the top three athletes in each of these categories. This year, the prize money is the biggest in MTL history with more than $5,500 on the table! First place finishers will receive $900, second place finishers $550, and third place finishers $400. These amounts are each awarded across the men’s, women’s, and para categories.

In order to be eligible for the prizes, athletes must compete in any two series meets, as well as the Atlantic Track and Field Championships, which will serve as the MTL final.

The series will span the 2018 outdoor season with meets taking place across the Maritimes, culminating with the Atlantic Championships in Charlottetown, PEI on July 28-29.

“We are thrilled to announce that the MTL will be back again for 2018! This is an excellent opportunity for athletes in the Maritimes to showcase their skills at high quality meets without having to travel across the country,” said Gabriel LeBlanc, Executive Director of Athletics New Brunswick. “We are grateful that we have such a dedicated team working in unison across the Maritimes to make this series a reality” added LeBlanc.
